As the Assistant Transit Manager, you will service as a key member of the Transit leadership team, helping oversee daily transit operations and ensuring service excellence for our riders and community. This position works closely with transit staff, supervisors, operators, maintenance personnel, and community partners to support efficient and effective transit services.

Transit Operations Manager | Sioux City Transit System

Sioux City Transit is looking for a skilled and motivated Transit Operations Manager to help lead the daily operations, planning, and maintenance of our public transportation system. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, developing people, and improving how a community moves.
What You’ll Do
As the Transit Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead and support staff across administration, operations, and maintenance.
- Guide service planning and long-range transit initiatives in partnership with the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
- Assist with major federal and state grants, helping secure funding for fleet upgrades, facilities, and service improvements.
- Ensure compliance with FTA, Iowa DOT, ADA, Civil Rights, and safety requirements.
- Manage budgets and capital assets, including fleet, facilities, and equipment.
- Collaborate with community partners to gather input and ensure equitable access to transit services.
- Support daily route operations, customer service, detours, and service adjustments.
- Respond during emergencies to help maintain essential transit services.
- Serve as a key leader, stepping in for the Transit Director when needed.
