MOVING THE NATION THROUGH CRISIS: MOBILITY RECOVERY & RESTORATION TASK FORCE REPORT
In response to COVID-19’s impact on public transportation, APTA Chair Nuria I. Fernandez established the Mobility Recovery & Restoration Task Force in April 2020 and asked Phillip A. Washington, CEO, LA Metro, to chair the group. This report summarizes the Task Force’s work to support public transit agencies and reposition the industry for an essential role in the nation’s post-pandemic economic recovery.
HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITMENTS PROGRAM
APTA’s Health and Safety Commitments Program is the public transportation industry’s overarching pledge to passengers that our systems are operating safely as North America recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. Agencies using the materials developed for the Program sign a pledge to implement the commitments.
APTA GUIDANCE AND BEST PRACTICES FOR COVID-19
The guidance and best practices are designed to aid transit agencies. They outline the elements agencies might choose to follow. Transit agencies should determine the applicability of the various guidance and recommendations based on their own system and community, and on their requirements, plans and policies.

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which President Biden signed on March 11, 2021, includes $30.5 billion in federal funding to support the nation’s public transportation systems as they continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and support the President’s call to vaccinate the U.S. population. Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (CRRSAA) includes $900 billion in supplemental appropriations for COVID-19 relief, $14 billion of which will be allocated to support the transit industry during the COVID-19 public health emergency

On Friday, March 27,the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law. FTA is allocating $25 billion to recipients of urbanized area and rural area formula funds. Learn more
