North Fork Area Transit - General Manager

The General Manager (GM) must be willing to identify and coordinate efforts with potential partner agencies, including financial partners, operational partners, and/or key stakeholders in Norfolk and the surrounding region. As a federally funded program, communication with the Nebraska Dept. of Transportation and compliance with state and federal regulations is essential. The General Manager will have the ability to lead, be flexible, and advocate for all individuals. The GM will think outside the box, while building and maintaining relationships with transportation providers and customers. The GM has the overall responsibility for safe and reliable transportation service, employee oversight, management of assets, and financial performance. This position requires an innovative and highly motivated person who can work independently.

Director of Finance/HR

The future retirement of the Director of Finance / HR position will create an opportunity for the right person to take on the tasks and responsibilities of this key management position. Successful candidates will have to be willing and able to: assume multiple roles and responsibilities; demonstrate a varied skill set and work experience that required senior level management decision making and leadership functions; and a work attitude that understands what it takes “to get it done”. Finance – All financial processes and reporting: general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, Medicaid / contract billings, annual budget prep, contracts and grant administration, monthly financial and statistical reports, banking/investment account reconciliation, preparing federal and state DOT reports etc.


Insurance: Oversee annual renewals and RFP’s, report and follow-up on claims, OSHA monitoring and reporting, handle worker comp claims, coordinate efforts with brokers, adjusters etc.

Human Resources: Maintain personnel files, screen applicants/schedule physicals and drug tests, administer the fringe benefit program, administer unemployment claims, prepare bi-weekly payroll, new hire orientation, administer EEO, Title VI and FMLA programs. Counsel employees and administer disciplinary action as required.


Other: Administer board of director’s minutes, agendas and reports; coordinate meetings/social/training events; manage vehicle acquisition, disposition, licensing processes; oversee employee uniform distribution and inventories.


Minimum Requirements: BA in finance, accounting and five years of related experience; or, 8-10 years of experience involving purchasing, finance, budgeting and/or accounting. Three to five years supervisory experience. Non-profit or governmental work experience preferred. Expertise with Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
