More than 23 million rides are provided annually by Iowa's transit systems. Public transit service is provided in every county in Iowa. Iowa transit systems rely on state and federal transit assistance to make rides available and affordable for Iowans. Local support such as tax revenue, fares, and donations provide a large share of agencies' operating budgets.

Linn County LIFTS Provides Food Pantry Delivery Services

Thursday, May 21, 2020

Linn County LIFTS has continued to provide rides to essential medical appointments, along with rides to work and grocery stores for persons without transportation.

When the quarantine escalated, we also began picking up food orders and delivering to clients who were unable to leave home and shop for themselves.

In addition, LIFTS has made staff and vehicles available to support Meals On Wheels packaging and deliveries, transport food to food pantry locations and assist with staffing for community-wide drive-up food distribution activities.
